A good alternative to your everyday green, black, or white tea is this cinnamon tea with a hint of vanilla. This tea is very easy to make and simply requires cinnamon sticks and water. You can drink this with honey or without any form of sweetener and it is just as delicious. The smell of this cinnamon tea is sweet without being overpowering.
Some cold and warm drinks you may enjoy are this adult hot chocolate, iced coffee or this refreshing and healthy tangerine, pineapple and sugarcane juice or soursop juice.
Other recipes to enjoy which also incorporate cinnamon are a very indulgent semolina pudding or this tapioca dessert or this apple-pear crumble.
Ingredients
The main ingredient here is the cinnamon stick. Any additional ingredients are optional and a matter of preference.
Instructions
The first step is to add a cinnamon stick to some water and then let that come to a boil
As it begins to boil, reduce the heat and leave to simmer. The colour of the water will begin to change.
Add a little bit of vanilla powder or essence to the water and let that continue to simmer. Just like with any other tea, depending on how strong you want it, you can leave it to simmer for longer.
Variations
- Tea Bags - if you do not like the light nature of this tea, you can brew your regular tea and then throw in a cinnamon stick to get it slightly flavoured with cinnamon.
- Sweeteners - if you like to drink tea with sugar or a sweetener then you can either sue honey, white sugar or brown sugar.
