The best way to start the weekend is with a baguette sandwich in the morning and a hot cup of whatever wakes you up. If you have been finding it difficult to come up with breakfast sandwich ideas then this one is for you. Often, people get put off by making sandwiches because when done wrong it can go soggy. This especially if you're adding tomatoes or cucumbers which both have a high water content.

You might be tempted to leave out the veggies but don't. The trick is to create a barrier between the bread and whatever ingredients you're adding. One way to do that is to spread butter or margarine before loading up the ingredients. It is also helpful to place the ingredients with the least water content closest to the buttered bread, that way you reduce the chance of the bread getting soggy. Unless the sandwich is actually meant to be soggy then this is a good way to go.
When I made this baguette sandwich I couldn't finish it in one sitting. It's a lot. So I wrapped it up in some aluminium foil and ate it the next day and not a single corner of the bread was soggy - an attest to a good sandwich.

This is a breakfast sandwich with egg but also includes salami, gouda cheese, arugula, lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers. Layer them beautifully and you are done. The lettuce was properly dried off and the egg fried to get a crispy edge - the best breakfast sandwich you will ever have. Enjoy.
